Yann Arthus-Bertrand eHe is a renowned and well-known French photographer.
His specialty was animal photography, especially after being in Kenya in the Masai Mara Game Reserve, Serengeti region, but later switched to aerial photography. He published more than 60 books with his photographs taken from helicopters and hot air balloons around the world. The National Geographic Magazine published his works many times, which have been exhibited in several countries.
Arthus-Bertrand is a member of the “Académie des Beaux-Arts de l’Institut de France”. One of his best-known photos is of a heart-shaped mangrove in New Caledonia, which has been used as the cover for his books The Earth from the air and The Earth from above.
In 2003 together with Baptiste Rouget-Luchaire and Sibylle d’Orgeval they started the project “6 billion Others”, 6 milliards d’autres in French. These are interviews conducted with people of any social class in different countries, which are then presented organized by topic. The questions are specific and refer to themes shared by all humanity: what is love? What does war mean? What is happiness In total, they did 5,000 interviews in seventy-five countries, in different languages, but the shorts are subtitled.
In 2008 he presented the exhibition “Alive”, in the Republic Square in Prague, from June 11 to September 30. The theme was clearly ecological, pointing towards sustainable development.
On June 5, 2009, he released a movie called Home, with a collection of totally impressive photos, which is about raising awareness in the world population about ecological problems and the rapid shortage of natural resources. For this film to be broadcast as widely as possible, it had to be free. A patron, the PPR group, allowed it to be. Europacorp that distributes it, promised not to have any benefit because HOME has no commercial interest. Its main purpose is to avoid depleting natural resources and prevent catastrophic evolution of Earth’s climate.
