Manuel Outumuro is a Spanish photographer from Orense at a very young age moved to Barcelona, where he trained as a graphic designer at the Escola Massana. He was a contributor to the magazine Por Favor y director de arte del suplemento La Vanguardia-Mujer.
In 1990 he began his activity as a photographer. His studio in Barcelona has created the graphic image and visual communication of renowned fashion designers. As a photographer she has published in different international magazines (Vogue, Elle, Zest) and Spanish (Telva, Fotogramas, Woman, La Vanguardia, El Mundo, Elle, El País and especially and in a continuous way in Marie Claire).
The Outumuro camera is an exceptional witness documenting the history of clothing in this latest turn of the century. His fashion photographs, organized in a large archive with more than 10,000 negatives and a large amount of digital material, constitute a unique document that reflects a part of the history of fashion in the last twenty years. This material continues to expand with its continuous collaborations in various publications.
On another side, its archive also constitutes a unique visual memory where a large part of the history of Spanish cinema of the last 25 years is found. In front of the Outumuro camera, almost all the actors, actresses and directors of our cinema have passed and continue to pass, as well as a large number of personalities from different cultural fields.
He has been awarded in several editions with Lux Gold Awards of the Association of Professional Photographers and He has received several Golden Laus. He has been distinguished with the ARI prize as best photographer of the year 2002 granted by the Association of Editors of Information Magazines. His studio in Barcelona, based in the Palmerola Palace (17th century), has received the 2002 ACCA Award (Associació de Crítics d’Art de Catalunya) for the private initiative of heritage recovery.
