Juan Manuel Díaz Burgos studied industrial engineering and was a technical professor at the Polytechnic Institute of Cartagena. He is self-taught in photography. In 1979, he began teaching classes in this specialty at the Popular University of Cartagena. From 2001, he coordinated the launch of the Historical Photography Center of the Region of Murcia (CEHIFORM) until he was dismissed from his position in the summer of 2007.
Despite showing an interest in photography since childhood, he did not make his first contact with this medium until he was 24 years old. The artist is in love with Latin America and has traveled to countries such as the Dominican Republic, Peru, Jamaica, Mexico, Costa Rica, and Panama, among others. But without a doubt, Cuba and Santo Domingo (Dominican Republic) have been key places in his relationship with Latin America, places where he has collected images full of realism and where he simply seeks the strength of the people.
