Erwin Olaf Springveld He is a well-known Dutch photographer, well known for his advertising and personal work, he has been commissioned by large advertising campaigns from prestigious brands such as Levi’s, Microsoft and Nokia. His photos are spectacular and do not leave anyone indifferent.
Some of his most famous photo series including “Grief”, “Rain”, and “Royal Blood” have been highly controversial. Erwin never runs away from controversy and prefers to use a provocative and sometimes humorous style. His work has received numerous awards and is exhibited around the world in prestigious art rooms.
Erwin studied at the Utrech School of Journalism and his work is exhibited in galleries such as “Flatland Gallery, Utrecht; Hasted Hunt, New York; Hamiltons Gallery, London; Galerie Magda Danysz, Paris ; Gallery Espacio Minimo, Madrid; and many others.
Olaf realized two things: his desire for perfectionism and his need to create his own universe, disregarding everything he did not want to appear in the image. ”Life is about the real, but one can enrich it with dreams. I love recreating my own dream world with stories that are yet to be revealed and whose end is left open, so that everyone can invent their own story ”, says the Dutch photographer. In this way the artist has found his own voice within the current panorama of photography, elaborating a narration through exquisite and disturbing staged images, which use ambiguity as a claim.
Erwin designed the Dutch EURO coin in 2014 with the portrait of King Willem-Alexander.
