Cristina García Rodero

He is dedicated to photographing popular celebrations and pagan religious traditions. The result of this is his magnificent book “La España Oculta” .

Cristina García Rodero is considered one of the artists of greater importance and creative transcendence of Spain. His sensitivity and curiosity towards the worlds he explores, along with a continued and elaborate photographic work carried out over the years, make his photographs radiate an overwhelming force without falling into exhibitionism or artifice. The images of Cristina García Rodero are powerful but real, the result of a passion for life and people, and in which technical tightrope walking has no place. That is why looking at the work of this photographer is like looking at the lives and feelings of those she portrays, uniting cultures and sensations without borders and distances acting as a barrier.

I tried to photograph the mysterious, true and magical soul of the popular Spain with its passion, its love, humor, tenderness, anger, pain, with its truth, and the most intense, and full moments of the life of the characters, as simple as irresistible, with all its inner strength, in a personal challenge that gave me strength and understanding, and in which I invested my heart.
