Alfred Eisenstaedt, He was a photographer and photojournalist, he was born in Dirschau, Western Prussia (now Tczew, Poland) on December 6, 1898; and died on August 24, 1995 in Jackson Heights, Queens, New York.
Alfred Einsenstaedt immigrated to the United States in 1935, where he would live the rest of his life, but he started in the world of photography in his native Prussia. In 1927, he managed to sell his first photograph to a publication and, as a result, he decided that he wanted to live professionally from photography, becoming a freelance photographer in Berlin.
When he arrived in America he became a US citizen and joined the staff of Life magazine from 1936 to 1972. His celebrity photographs stand out, from Sophia Loren to Bill Clinton, including Mussolini, Hitler, John Fitzgerald Kennedy or Hemingway, many of which were covers of Life magazine.
Eisenstaedt worked with a 35mm Leica M3, his most famous photograph being that of the V-J Day in Times Square, in Times Square, also known as “The Kiss” or “The Kiss”.
