José Manuel Navia is a Spanish photographer. He graduated in photography in 1980 and today is a prestigious contemporary photographer.
He worked in editorial photography between 17 and 30 years. Freelance photographer since 1987, first as a member of the agency Cover and since 1992 he is a member of the agency Vu (Paris). He publishes regularly in the main Spanish and foreign media and maintains a close relationship with El País Semanal since 1992, where he also worked as a graphic editor in 1995-96, and with the Magazine of La Vanguardia and the Spanish edition of National Geographic.
She works as a team with Carmen Martín Eizaguirre and Marta Martín Emaldi, who are in charge of the editing and treatment of their images.
He has received some prizes such as the Fotopress 1987 Award (by categories in 1989, 90, 91), La Caixa Foundation; Society of Newspaper Design, USA, in 1994, 1995 and 1997; Godó prize for photojournalism 1999, Foundation Conde de Barcelona / La Vanguardia; 2006 Image Award of the Spanish Geographical Society.
It has work in the collection of the Community of Madrid, the Marugame Hirai Museum in Japan, the collection of the Alcobendas City Council, the Municipal Museum of Contemporary Art in Madrid, and in the Photogalería de La Fábrica, Madrid, and numerous books and exhibitions give account of your images.
